Where are the crappie?

Discuss fishing for black and white crappies through the ice. It's tough to beat a good school of crappies through hard water.

Up here in ND we usually find them along drop offs. If there is a spot like a back bay the is a bowl or basin shape they love to travel those. Or just work a good drop off from a point or neck down area. Find mud flats or bottoms they will be there eating larva that rise up in the water column as the sun goes down.

Find deep water close to where they hang out in the summer. For some reason, they don't always hang out around structure early on but suspend over holes nearby.

here in Maine i find them around the drop offs and any holes they hang out in durring the soft water season.

i know where they are... just need some ice to get over top of them..... 6 to 8 ft of water by the weeds..
