Powerbait vs Gulp

Discuss fishing for black and white crappies through the ice. It's tough to beat a good school of crappies through hard water.

Powerbait vs Gulp

Postby PetryD09 » Fri Nov 28, 2008 11:03 pm

hey, ive heard a lot of good things about using artificial waxies for crappie. i was just wondering what the difference between the Berkley Gulp waxies, and the Powerbait Micros Power Wigglers. they are both made by Berkley, so i was just wondering if you guys prefer one over the other. thanks for any thoughts.

I don't know if one is better then the other but i used the gulp before it seemed to work for crappies but i think it is more about presentation

Powerbait vs Gulp

Postby PetryD09 » Sat Nov 29, 2008 8:56 am

thanks iceman, im just wondering what the difference between the two are- why berkley made the two seemingly identical, but stamped different names on them. i stopped by gander and picked up the natural color gulp waxies and the pink power wigglers.

Berkley is just one of many that do that you sell one thing and then sell the same thing under a new name sometimes at a lower price to try to corner the market

Try real waxies on a small jig when the Crappies are finicky- Crappie love a good lively wax worm on the hook!
Thanks,

i have always found gulp more successful for anykind of panfish than powerbait, the fish would hit powerbait, but they would just hit it, once they got their mouths on it, i dont think they liked the texture, because the 2 feel different. good luck and hope this works for you

Love 'em

I've had luck on both ,also had luck on nuggets. It all depends on the day and the fish. When live bait isn't working I'll switch but I also switch it up when it is working to keep it fresh in the sence that the fish isn't seeing the same thing all day.
