ice fishing in eastern ontario report.

Postby mad_on_fishing » Thu Dec 18, 2008 8:25 pm

last week end, my father and i were out on a small rainbow lake in the calabogie area.

the conditions were pretty miserable, there was a foot of slush on top of 4" of black ice and 3" of ok ice.

my father caught a 1 pounder on a small minnow on a jig head in the first 20 minutes, the i caught a 2 .1/2 pounder on a tip-up riged with a minnow on those glow in the dark hooks from northland tackle.
my father caught his at 10 in 30 ft of water and i caught mine on the bottom in 30ft as well.

came home with black toes,,, mom was not happy with that...

sorry there are no pics,,, forgot the camera at home.

:D
its not the fisherman that catches the fish,,, its the gear,,,
or is it the other way around?,,, oh well,, fish on

Good to see the first Ontario report on the site this year. Although the weather was poor you caught some fish. Nice report.
Down here in Southwestern Ontario not much safe ice yet. Hopefully soon with reports to follow. Major storm starting to blow in right now.

Good luck: Rick
