Anyone got their Tom yet?

Postby admin » Fri Apr 11, 2008 9:57 am

I have to admit I've been so busy I haven't been out, but hope to this weekend finally.

Just curious if anyone else has gotten their bird?

They finally showed up yesterday Jim in one of the same areas that I had hunted twice before with no sign. two groups of jakes with 4 birds each. Also one longbeard. Nine totaly birds and never saw a hen, must be they are sitting now. Anyhow I took 1 jake then eventually recalled the others back to the same spot a 1/2 hour later to take the second jake. The birds were in such bad shape that I didnt even take pictures. They were missing a ton of feathers and had no weight to them. Hopefully they will still fry up good. Take care.

Glad you had some luck Ron. Can't beat those young birds when it comes to eating. I'll take a jake or two-year-old over a big, old tom any day! :D -Jim

Holy smokes Jim you are a turkey hunting machine.

I will be guiding this weekend for the last season here in IL with hopes of posting a kill by Sunday.

Called this one in for my brother last week. This is his first bird ever and only his third time out this year. It has a 9.5" beard and tip the scale at 21lbs. with 1" spurs.
