20ga?

Postby durky870 » Sun Sep 12, 2010 6:43 am

Do any of you guys use a 20gauge for ducks and geese? I know a 12 gauge is by far better but I would really like to use my 20 (dont tell the others but its my fav. gun).. I feel I can knock down a goose with it since I rolled my tom this year at 43yrds. Whats your guys fav loads to use on these birds?

Yeah I will be using my 870. Ive got a few different shotguns but I have shot more game with that gun then all the others. Going to try out some different loads this week sometime.

that 870 is one of the best all around guns ever made.put a slug barrel on it and its a deer killer.I was going to tell you to try #4 shot that will knock em out of the skys.what barrel do you have on the 870? I used to use 6 shot but the 4's are alot better

28 inch vented barrel on her. yeah i picked up some #4's and #2's. work is putting a damper on my time to be able to shoot, but i am thinking the 2's might not have enough pellets in the kill zone past 25-30yrds.

A 20 should work. It is now 2 or 3 weeks after the opener depending on where you hunt. I would invest in some blackcloud shells, they are devestating on the birds. I hunt with a single shot 10 that just murders the birds. I have to trim a little shot out but the meat is fine. Good luck and hope you have a good year all.
