Lost my favorite dead stick rod and 35 year old ABU down the hole today.
Seems a rather large esox needed it more than I did.
Still had a decent day on the ice though.
Managed a good bunch of pike with one just shy of 40" as the biggest (the one that stole my rod was at least 50" if not bigger)

That sucks, I've had it happen to me as well. Iknow that you will miss that rod. It's been 3 years since I lost mine
and I still think about that rod. Nice fish.

Ordered the parts to build a new stick last night.
Now I need to locate another 35 year old ABU 5501.

Feel for you drifter. a couple of years a go I had a break in and a lot of my fishing and hunting equipment went stolen. I've replaced most of the items taken but none of it quite feels like the old stuff. I sure miss my favourite rod and reel. I caught a new series on the discovery channel called ice lake rebels last night. Its about people living on house boats on Great Slave lake just outside of Yellowknife. You can see the town in the background in some of the shots. any way, this is drifter country. The show is a little corny but a good example of where drifter is from.
