Trying something new :)

Postby guinea » Thu Jan 08, 2015 9:58 am

Well, we're back on a 32 hr work week, so I thought about trying something new tomorrow, since everyone else I fish with will be working.

I may have mentioned, I'm renting a room for the winter, having shut my frigid house down until spring. My roomie has told me that out back on the property there are a few beaver ponds, not too far from the edge of the tree line. I thought I'd venture down the hill and check it out.

Do any of you ever try little beaver ponds in the winter? If so, do you have much success?

Hi Guinea, I've never tried but a couple of the guys do OK for specks in a few of the back creeks that have dams on them. Gerard

Hi there! Long time no see!

Yep, that's what I planned to try for. I'll let you know how it works out. I also thought it would be a nice day to pop through the woods, so a little hiking....a little fishing.....it should be fun even if I come up empty. :)

I just chuckled; to think that just a few years ago I'd have no idea what a speck was! Now, after conversing with many Canadians on these fishing sites, I know that it's what we call brookies. Being here is the next best thing to actually fishing!

I didn't make it yet! Maybe this Friday.

I got a call Thursday night from my friend who needed help getting his shack to the lake. 4 of us managed to finally get that behemoth on the trailer! So I ended up at my usual lake instead.
