What kind of water way do you fish on?Lake, river?
Is there a creek flowing in or out of the water body you fish in?
Do you prefer tip-ups,or jigging?

For pike, I like using a Red/White or Yellow or Black 5 o' diamond with a swivel and large single hook attached to the bottom. A nice big smelt on the hook and I'm pretty much set.

I found that if theres some weeds and cover with pan fish it really increases your odds. I also use a bullet weight to keep the minnow down and a spinner blade to add some flash. I think any extra flash won't hurt. And use big shiners!

Weedline in about 10 feet of water. If there is a dropoff just outside the weeds all the better.
Set up in 10-15 feet of water along the outside edge of the weeds with your big shiner down at 3-4 feet off the bottom.

These are great suggestions!

I catch a ton of big pike on green lake in michigan.

The lake I fish has a river that flows out so I like to setup near the river.
I look for the shelf. A nice weedbed in about 10 feet of water that drops off to about 20. I like to set my depth around 12 feet in about 15-16 feet of water. I use Big shiners or smelt if I catch a fresh 1. Smelt work the best because they are oily and you can slightly cut into flesh to release the scent. Not enough to kill them just wound em.
