Winter walleye tactics

What are your favorite tactics for icing eyes?
For me it's hard to beat catching them on jigs while actively jigging. Then I would have to say I do enjoy using tip-ups for them as well. Always checking out the windows waiting for a flag to go up is fun.

For me in the last couple of years jigging hard baits has become my #1 go to method for iceing eyes.
Live Targets, Salmo Darters, Chubby Darters are my top baits.

After that it's usually a jig tipped with a salty. Usually I have one rod rigged up with this t use as a deadstick while I'm rippin the hardbaits n the other hole.

Jigging hard baits has been my go-to as well. More often then not I use a minnow head on the bottom treble.

In the mornings we focus on setting up right on the shallow side of a rock reef. We use Buckshot spoons tipped with a minnow head. Thump it on the bottom, jerk it up, let it fall down, anything to rattle the fish in.

This usually produces good amounts of fish for the ice.

I use the same tactics with the buckshot rattle spoons. I have good luck with the gold ones.

Buckshots, forage minnow, lindy flyer, salmos... pair that with a graph and some jigging techniques and your good to go. Nice to move around as much as possible if you aren't marking fish..
