First walleye ever caught!

Yesterday, 1/31/10, I caught my first Walleye! And I mean my very first. I have fished many times for walleye with my dad and grandpa but have never caught one, even in a boat!

I caught the walleye on Splithand Lake, in Minnesota. The depth was about 15 ft. About 10 minutes later I caught a loner pike, about 3 lbs. The walleye was about 16". It was fun, especially because I haven't caught a single fish all winter yet!

I almost lost the walleye too because it was just hardly hooked and when I got it in the hole, the hook fell out of its mouth and it was in the hole thrashing around while I was trying to grab it. Close one!

Definitely. Going to cook it up along with the pike this weekend. Now that I have a better insight on where to catch walleye, I will hopefully be pulling in a few more.
