   good one guinea.

we run both a vex fl8se and a bird ice-55. when we go out they both work great. no complaint's about either one.

The fl-8 is just a basic flasher that marks fish and will see even the smallest jig i can put on. kinda small screen but it works fine for my eyes. has a small cone angle so works better in deeper water, otherwise you need to be directly over the fish to mark them.

The bird's ice-55 is an amazing machine. adjustable zoom anywhere in the water collum and can really pick up fish layin on the bottom. has an adjustable color pallet with three different settings, two three color and one six color. i usually get confused when i switch over to the six color pallet so i normally leave it on the standard setting. the bird also has an adjustabel cone angle of i beleive 9*/19*. the 19* helps out in shallower water covering more of the lake botom. the birds display is much larger than the fl-8se. the bird has very little hum that you can hardly hear it in the shack. only downfall is the $$$$$$$$$. but you get what you pay for.

all and all, i love the bird's ice-55. there is only one reason that i use the vex fl8-se over the bird ice-55 and its quite simple.
The wife laid claim to the bird, and i'm fine with that.

ANY flasher will work better than none. find one that has the options that YOU would like and you can afford. we bought the bird because we seen one in action and had to have one. waited for the end of season sale's and picked one up for a $100 off. the vex i got for one reason only. Cheap!!! picked it up used on fleabay and couldn't pass on it. i'm a sucker for a good deal.

good luck in your quest for a flasher. i'm sure we can get some more input from Surf on the Marcum's. they have some amazing machine's

I have 2 vexilars. A 20 and 22. The 20 is a better all around unit because the 22 only goes down to a depth of 60 feet but most days I take the 22. It's a better unit. Any flasher wil help you catch fish. Whats your budget? The fl-18 is great avd you can find them, new for $430 if you find the right deal.

Lets try to set something up for next Tuesday or Thursday Andro, it will give the slop some time to melt down.
