I just called Sterling Forest this morning. All lakes are opened for ice fishing. I didn't check with Harriman State Park, but I'm sure the conditions are the same. We'll be there on Monday. Good luck !!!

Orange county you say. Have you ever fished across the river? Putnam and Dutchess Counties

I usually ice fish Sullivan county or orange, I fish NYC reserviors during the open water season. They rarely have good ice until mid january, this year has been colder though. If the ice is good I will always try some where new. :thumb:

Most NYC waters were locked up this past weekend. However, we're in the middle of a heat wave, and it's here until the middle of next week.

I went on thursday(1-21-10)to a local reservior, It was really warm out still had good ice but they closed the lake until it gets colder. I will be fishing white lake this week sometime. hopefully it will get colder. :thumb:

Yeah, I stayed north of the reservoirs in PC. Got into a mess of yellows. 6-8 of them 11 to 12". Big fat jumbos. Another dozen 9" and up. Fried them up in cornmeal during the Jet game. Tuesday night the temps dip down again and stays that way through the weekend. I was worried about the last 4-5 days temps, but we have 1-2" of rain expected tonight into tomorrow and 50 degrees. Now that will eat some ice. These reservoirs have been subject to closure due to drawdown or filling. I will call to find out what's going on with them and post more info. Be safe out there.

last time out I hit the perch pretty good(8 total, ranging 9 to 11 inches). Sucks about the Jets but the Perch Were awesome!! :D
I will let you know how I do this week upstate,Im glad the temps are going to drop back down. Let me know if the ice gets better over there. Stay safe and good luck :thumb:

I saw the first half of the game and it was fun to watch. Fried up some perch during halftime and cooked a pot roast occasionally catching some plays and replays. I wanted more but it's just a game right? Boyds Corner and West Branch Reservoirs are closed over here due to repairs up stream. The rest are open. Man did it get warm today or what. I'll guestimate 60 degrees.
I won't be going out for two weeks. We'll call it an exercise in patience, then I'll be gunning for walleye. Where are you going upstate bigfish?

Im going to either White Lake or lake Huntington next week sometime. Winds are suppose to pick up in the next couple days and get really cold (thicken the ice again :D). If I can hold out that long I may go sooner. I will let you know how it goes. :thumb:

I'll be here. Probably curled up in a fetal position with the DT's sweating and shaking uncontrollably because I won't be out until 2/6 or 2/7. Check in on me please. Maybe tell me a fish story to help me through.
