Has anyone been out to Granby yet? Just curious about the ice conditions there?

Yotafly, looks like the message posted from Duffer812 was from Dec. 2005. What kind of fish were you catching at Willow CreeK Res.? I assume rainbows, but just curious. I go up to Gramby a lot and normally catch 20-30 fish/trip. I have only fished Willow Creek in the summer.

If either of you ever need someone to go ice fishing with in Colorado send me an email.

I know this thread is from 2 years ago, but the question is the same....How's the ice on Lake Granby? If there is any ice. I'm hoping to get some fishing in on New Year's Day up there, but I might have to go to a smaller lake, if there is no ice.

Obviously there are not many folks that fish Granby Res. who post on this site. I called the guy at Budget Tackel in Ganby and he said it's fishable, but watch your ass! He has been hitting Wofford with success. I am heading up tomorrow morning. First stop L. Granby, if there is good ice...I'll stay, otherwise I will be driving up to Willow Creek or Wofford.

Same as last year....this thread rocks!!!!

MG,
This a smokin' hot thread! Let us know how you did ... I've been looking at trying for some Macs this season. I got some equipment setup for it but my problem is the commute. My closest mac lake is Chambers and that's buried under 3+ ft of snow.

Hopefully, you'll see this before next Christmas! :D

I fish Granby but not yet this year. In fact a friend of mine is headed up in the morning to do a rescue on a snowmobile that went thru the ice. He has all the lift bags and goodies to do that. So I'm sure I'll hear an ice report from him.

Let us know what your friend finds out, the ice down on the front range is a little on the shaky side with the warm winds we've been having the last couple of days.

I went to L. Granby on Wed and it was too scary for us. There were a few brave souls fishing REAL close to the shore. I went to Willow Creek and got skunked. I should have went to Wofford. I will try next weekend. Hopefully with the cold snap, the ice will get thicker.

Got an update from my friend that went up to rescue that sled. It was on Grand Lake, the ice is anywhere from 2-10 inches depending on where your at. He said the edges and middle were around the 2" mark. So be careful especially if you use a snowmobile to get around up there.

I just got off Lake Granby. The ice in Rainbow Bay is about 6 inches thick. I got one small rainbow.

Talked with Budget Tackle today said 4-6 inches of ice on the whole lake. Not much for this time of year if you ask me.
