Next week the hardwater in High Point State Park should be good. A buddy of mine checked and said there was 2 - 3" up there.

I'll be checking conditions on Big and Little Swartswood Lakes here in Sussex County this weekend and post what I find out.

Safe Ice

Postby BHS71 » Sat Jan 10, 2009 11:03 am

I have seen people ice fishing on Budd Lake since this past Monday, 1/5.
They have been fishing in the cove where the public bathing beach is.

Early start this season. Heard they were fishing on Budd Lake already this week and I went to Mt. Hope Pond on 12/24/09. Had 2 tip ups......both perch. Then jigging caught a 14-15" Pickeral, several small perch (under 10") and 2 sunnies. My new Strikemaster Electra lazer auger works great!

Cheers

Both Swartswoods are ready to go, Hopatcong is ready, My gut tells me that Split Rock is ready after being cautious when checking it last Saturday as the edges were broken ice. That is likely solid by now. Budd & Cranberry Lakes have been yielding fish for over a week. Aeroflex is likely fishable.

KDC is having their Ice Fishing contest on Lake Hopatcong on Sunday, January 24th from 5am-4pm. $20.00 entry fee for members and $25 for non-members. For more info. go to their site:- http://www.kneedeepclub.org/

Happy Fishin!
