Ice thickness reports

Postby mncowboy96 » Tue Jan 17, 2012 7:21 pm

Howdy folks!

I just stumbled across this site and awesome, just what I been looking for!

Anyone here have some ice thickness reports for Southern ME? I am hoping to get out Saturday but nervous to go out with only a few cold days and this snow cover...

Good luck and flags up all!

Small ponds are fairly safe but I would check the thickness along the way while going out. I usually bring a chisel early in the year instead of my auger. Highland Lake in Falmouth has 8 inches near the boat ramp but the main body froze later and is not as thick so ice thickness varies.
Who stocked the grouper in Sebago?

Thank you! I will be out tomorrow so I will update this with hopefully a good catch report as well as ice depths.

Well it was a slow day on the ice but we did get a couple good ones. Here is the wife with her catch of the day. Hopefully the ice will give us another chance to get out!

I am guessing by Thanksgiving someone will be fishing in Northern Maine.
