Drifter's hitch is probably longer than most commercial versions, and it probably makes pulling the shelter a bit easier.
Looks to be constructed a bit better also. Something to consider if building your own.

Yes, mine is 5' long (10' piece of conduit cut in 1/2).
I think longer is better when going over pressure ridges and such.

I got 3 years out of it but bent it the first time out this year when I couldn't get back up over a granite outcrop due to lack of snow. I ended up jack knifing while backing down the hill and I bent the bars.
40 minutes and a new piece of conduit and all is good again.

I'm back from the St. Paul Ice Fishing show. Based on your feedback, I had narrowed it down to the the Frabill Guardian and the Otter Cabin. After spending quite a bit of time looking at both, I opted for the Otter Pro Cabin. Got a really good packaged price (2 hours before the end of the show) - the Pro Cabin (thermal), with the pro sled, Hifax runner kit, cover, hitch, the new hitch pivot, rear hitch and two rod holders for $750 plus tax.
Now if it would just get could enough to make some ice!!! Thanks for your help.

Just a quick update on the Otter Pro Cabin flipup. Exceeds my expectations. I had it out this weekend in -4 Fahrenheit and about 10mph wind. Kept comfortably warm with just a small Coleman Blackcat propane heater. Fishing wan't anything to brag about, but the Otter Pro Cabin was. Keith
