slush, slush my kingdom for a slushi

Postby ger15ber » Sun Mar 17, 2013 9:37 am

Well, not a stellar day yesterday. After 4 hrs of pulling machines through the slush and a few break downs, we decided to call it a day and head for home. There's no substitute for power when your playing in the slush. It was minus 30 C this morning so l decided to batten down the hatches, fix a few items that were broke yesterday, do laundry and watch the formula 1 and nascar race. My other passion. Surflizard, are you running a touring SLE 500 cc? Looks like we have the same machine . rickl1968, where abouts are you in NW Ont? I lived up in Ear Falls for 12 yrs in the 70-80. opps there I go dating myself again, Now that was great place to fish. Take care Gerard

Getting stuck in slush definitely sucks!!!
Thankfully we don't get a lot of it up here.
Usually only in the early season if we get snow before the ice has some thickness to it.
When I do get into it I'm really glad to have my 1000cc Yammy 4 stroke under me.

Yep, a 1000 cc's must be nice. My 500 cc are okay with just me on but it's not enough once I add a passenger and a sliegh. At least I can unhook the sliegh and get rid of the passenger and get going. some of the other smaller machines have a harder time. better luck next weekend, Gerard

I hear ya Gerard, fighting slush with any machine always makes for a tough day ! The SLE has been a great sled for me, rugged and dependable, but she is heavy ! You can see the handle of the cable comealong on the rear rack, never leave home without it !

The Missus calls it her Ice Caddy !

I spent 2 years running sled dogs in the Minnesota Boundry Waters just south of Ricks digs, Beautiful Country out there for sure ! :thumb: Had more then a few Molsons in the Madhouse Tavern in Thunder Bay too !

I have to agree with you surflizard, she's heavy but it has never let me down either. I don't carry a cable come-along, maybe something to look into. we have always done 1 guy on the throttle standing beside the machine and one guy pulling on the skis.

Rick, next time your by the hoito's run in and have breakfast for me. I sure miss haveing breakfast at the hoito's
