Northern Illinois Bluegill Tips?

Postby shooter5635 » Sat Jan 09, 2010 5:06 pm

Hey guys,

I'm new to the site and would like your help. I've been fishing my entire life, but that's been on open, unfrozen, water. My friends recently wanted to try ice fishing but got skunked the first time we went out. We targeted bluegills, but things just weren't clicking for us. My dad used to ice fish so i have all the equipment and tackle necessary, but I'm just lacking the knowledge. Any pointers as to cover, dept, baits? All advice is appreciated.

Shooter,

Look for green weeds and where you left the pan fish just before ice out. What lakes are you fishing I might be able to help out a bit more. On Sunday we are fishing Maire on the chain out of the Sand bar if you want to join in.

Thanks for the invite Tod, unfortunately I'm working both Saturday and Sunday this weekend so i wont be able to get out.

The lake we fished is called Lake Tampier. It's a local lake, nothing special.
