Anybody here ever fish lake shabbona for walleyes? I plan on hitting that body of water up soon, any tips would be helpful.

I fished it many moons ago, probably about ten years now. I do remember limiting out on crappie, gills, catfish all in one day. My brother in-law and I fished it and we had a crowd waiting to take the holes. I couldn't tell you what it's like now but I'm sure there still in there.

Might give it a run on Sunday if we don't go to Madison for the big gills.

I would head to towards the dam on either side weed line to the west and trees to the east deep water in the middle.

Ok, now I know it's been really warm for this time of year the past couple days. So, what effect does this have on our existing ice. will this warm up bring unsafe ice for weeks to come after the we ice back over?

Them_ Bonez,

I went ice fishing this past Thursday, I noticed that day that this weekend was going to be out of the question. I told both my son's that the ice was beginning to thaw especially after the rain we had. It rained all day Wednesday and I kind of knew we didn't have many more days of good ice left. The ponds edge was becoming more exposed meaning ice thaw. I'm going to wait for re-freeze (when days & nights are below 30F) for about a week or so.
