fishing tricks

I have been fishing at a lake in Western NY.They stock 4000 brook and brown trout twice a year.But no matter what I toss out there they wont bite the nibble never run.I like to fish from shore with live bait no lures or flies CAN anyone help me out.My wife is getting bored not catching anything.
