when dose everyone think ice fishing will start this year?

I'm thinking if the night time lows stay in the "teens" like projected we could be fishing in 2 to 3 weeks time. I'd say just before christmas.

Drive to northern ,MN you'll find ice. Heck some lakes in northern WI are frozen.

some in milwaukee have thin ice now too.

Won't be long now boys, some single digits heading our way here in east central Wisconsin. Too bad they will be accompanied by a major snowfall as well. The snow acts as an insulator and slows ice production. But, I anticipate having safe ice (3") by this coming weekend, 12-11-09, at least on the smaller lakes.

Anyone been venturing out to test the thickness yet?

i'm going to a small bass pond after work today, got about 3 to 4 inches as of midnight.

With the temperature's we've been having it'll be here in no time. I'm headin up to northern wisconsin friday and settin up that first tip-up of the season!!! Time to crack a couple beers and relax on the ice..... finally
