It's the only knot I can do effectively!

Seriously, when I started icefishing waaaaay back, say 5 years ago  , my mentor showed me this knot. It's the only one I can do with frozen fingers so I stick with it. It's been working so far!

I'm old fashioned, I use the improved cinch knot, have been ever since I started fishing. I've never lost a lure or fish w/it. I have had a lot of injuries to my fingers & that is the only knot I can handle on the ice!

I'm in the same boat as IceWanderer, hand injuries have forced me to rely on the Duncan loop / Uni knot for its ease of trying and strength.

Only in summer with braid... I'm using monofilament in winter! So less ice on it!

And..i like the fact of some of them are able of 27% of elasticity. For me, it's important for two factors!

1) We are doing very near fights, so it give more chance because of the stretch!

2) And fishes are often very slow..and just take lures 1/3 by the lips lol..so..i think that the fact of elasticity help to not retreive it to fast of their mouth!...

Never lost anyting compare to braid! for me..they're reacting to mutch fast for those kind of fishing!

Yep ice cubes.

If you use the palomar knot and tie them all together eventually you will have enough to ........
